Ruth Alexandra Cajamarca-Paccha of Ossining was killed around 7:42 a.m. Sunday during a head-on crash on Route 9 just south of Sleepy Hollow Road in Briarcliff Manor, said Mount Pleasant Police Capt. Michael Pierce.
Cajamarca-Paccha was a passenger in a 2013 Chevrolet Spark that collided with a 2016 Ford Explorer. When officers arrived on the scene, both vehicles had extensive damage and two of the occupants of the Chevy, including Cajamarca-Paccha, were in the process of being extricated by the Archville and Briarcliff Manor fire departments, he said.
Once free, the driver, a 26-year-old male was transported to Westchester Medical Center with serious injuries. Cajamarca-Paccha was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 28-year-old Ossining man driving the Explorer was not injured.
The Mount Pleasant Police Department Detective Division is conducting the investigation along with the Westchester County Police Accident Investigation Unit.
Numerous agencies assisted at the scene including Archville and Briarcliff Manor Fire Departments, Ossining PD, Briarcliff PD, Ossining Paramedics, Westchester EMS, and Briarcliff Ambulance.
